NEW YORK — A clothing boutique in Chinatown is opening this weekend in what is being billed as a first for the neighborhood.
Clothing retailer SheinClothes is expected to open Saturday at 1760 Madison Ave.
in the Chinatown section of the city.
Its main storefront will be located in the West Village, the store said.
The boutique will sell women’s and children’s clothing and accessories.
It will be the first of its kind in the city, and the first in the East Village, which has an average of more than 20 stores.
SheinClothing is the latest in a string of New York clothing retailers that have opened in Chinatown.
The first to open in the neighborhood was the clothing retailer, BHLDN, in 2009.
The second opened last year at 9th and E streets.
The third opened in the Upper East Side.
Last month, a Chinese-owned clothing store opened at the corner of 13th and Madison streets in Chinatown, along with an upscale clothing store, Lingerie World, which also sells fashion accessories.
